Alex is passionate about creating a clean energy economy, with good secure jobs and a caring, more compassionate society.

When I first moved to the western suburbs I was drawn by the history and diversity of the area and in particular Brimbank. After moving to Sunshine from Queensland via Latrobe Valley, I helped establish the Brimbank branch of the Greens. The branch successfully elected to Council the first endorsed Greens candidate soon after the branch’s formation.

Alex has twice been an endorsed Greens candidate for Brimbank City Council.

Living in the western suburbs is fantastic with so many different people from different walks of life. And there is also a precious and unique local environment.

I’m passionate about creating a clean energy economy, with good secure jobs and a caring, more compassionate Victoria. That’s why I’m passionate about being a candidate for the Greens in Sydenham.

I have a long history of working for the rights of others and the environment; working for unions, and community organisations and with non-government organisations. I currently work for a health union and have worked for the Australian Council of Trade Unions on campaigns and policy development.

Alex works on environment issues and is a board director of Electronic Frontiers Australia in his spare time.

There are significant social and environmental issues that people face in the Sydenham electorate – lack of funding for health and education; growing job insecurity; and inadequate public transport and social infrastructure.

But there are many fantastic opportunities for Sydenham.

With a properly developed jobs and industry plan it is possible to transform Sydenham into a hub for manufacturing and warehousing components in the clean energy economy. We can create secure green jobs locally.

There are few options for vulnerable and struggling families when they need to seek health care. Restoring access to better health care means families do not need to depend on emergency rooms. And it means access to more procedures performed locally to be closer to home.

Alex will stand up for better healthcare; better education and to get Victoria back on track to a clean energy economy.

By restoring funding to TAFE, it is possible to ensure that people have educational pathways in vocations of the future. It also means that we can build up the skills base to take advantage of the clean energy economy.

Better public transport means people can more freely move around and have more reliable ways of getting to work on time. It also means families don’t need to rely entirely on two or three vehicles; or have to pay to maintain extra vehicles.

I will stand up for better healthcare; better education and to get Victoria back on track to a clean energy economy.

The Greens and I stand up for what matters – vote 1 Alex Schlotzer and The Greens for Sydenham.
