If your image is in one of the acceptable formats, say jpg, then just copy its url and pop it into 'Insert Image'.

If its format is unacceptable then go to Photobucket (for example), download from your computer and it will automatically become 'jpg' and you can go from there.

Best method - upload the image to an image-hosting website, then use the provided link to the image in your message post. Good hosting websites will provide a BBCode link to make it easy.

Example sites - Photobucket, tinypic, imageshack. Or enter "image hosting" into your favourite search engine.

Bam,

Recently we have had images posted which go far beyond the text boundary which is not acceptable.
Until I am sure I won't transgress myself, I have refrained from posting images.

It is my understanding that the size the image will appear is determined by the resolution of your monitor. i.e a large image will appear smaller on a high resolution monitor. How do you get the right size for posting? Is it by trial and error by checking the preview? If that is the case there are those who clearly don't use the preview before posting. On the other hand the preview is much wider than the final posting.
