Has anyone here seen The Cape?

It stars Australian David Lyons (played ET on Sea Patrol) and perennial sci-fi/fantasy favourite Summer Glau (Firefly, 4400). It has only just begun in the US, it is sort of aimed at filling the gap left behind Heroes (who knew that kept going after season 2?).

I've seen the opening double episodes and quite enjoyed them. I wouldn't hesitate to say I loved the opening double episodes.

I'm normally quite stoic about new shows and their directions especially since I've been proved right with Stargate Universe's cancellation.

Anyhow have you seen The Cape? What do you think?

Haven't seen it, but did enjoy the first season of Heroes and love Firefly. Will definitely check this one out :)

haven't even heard of of it, which is a bit odd for me at least, I like science fiction a good deal. You've just bummed me out with telling that Stargate Universe was cancelled - obviously I'm not that up of the news after all. And of course Firefly only ran one season - total injustice. But with the new one we get another chance to see Summer Glau!

What think you of the the new V series?

Well The Cape got canned after the production of the 10th episode. On rewatching some of Farscape recently, it makes me wonder how it made it to a fourth season + a movie. Don't get me wrong on Farscape I frelling love it and love it more each ahn but in comparison to other shows its terrible.

SGU was tipped to be Voyager 90210 and that is all it was. SG1 & SGA defecate all over SGU. SGU is to Stargate what Enterprise was to Star Trek.

The first two seasons of V were OK but that's all really. I specifically enjoyed Hobbs' role. A breakout star. If you've seen those, I think the main character has no motivation left for the third season. I said it that way to avoid spoilers but I really can't see where they can go with a 3rd season given what the main character just went through.

You know, it's funny you mention Farscape. It always shaped up to be unbearably pulpy but managed to keep you watching. Being filmed in Australia and showing a passing parade of locals was always good too - Caludia Karvan made one great appearance as I recall. Another that was a little the same was Space Above and Beyond - but also killed off after one season.

I've only managed to watch V in patches, it seemed to be holding up okay so far.

If its out there I'm considering obtaining Space: Above and Beyond.

I love this line

Chesty - Bulldog - bang your dead

correct answer

Chesty - Bonds

I've got the right show haven't I?

I've got the right show haven't I?

The series if for sale, I got mine from the US but my DVD player is region-free.

You know, you might be right about the quote. I recall thinking that occasionally the one-liners had Australian references and wondering what the north american audiences would make of them. I can't place the exact episode, but I think Bulldog was the callsign of the squadron leader.

Supposedly the series was a space-remake of the old Combat! TV series, but I've never seen this to compare. I have UFO on DVD too - fantastic to watch, I think it was the first series I ever saw, the predecessor to Space 1999.

I don't know UFO. I did just finish watching Farscape the first series though.
It must have the worst sci-fi television theme music ever.

It also occurred to me that Firefly was just a reworking of Farscape

Characters on the ship with differing POVs and the ship effectively as a character.

Yes, the music was super cheesy. I liked the mix of characters though.

UFO was a hoot - some okay stories, but the fashion and sensibility of the show was just as interesting.

I can't let this discussion go without mentioning Lexx - it's on my shopping list to get the series on DVD for sure. I have no idea if Farscape was based on this [ a german series I think] but there were some similar themes, except Lexx took everything to the logical extreme.

Last night I started watching Taken, the Speilberg series from the 90s... good show, I never got to watch it properly the first time around.

i never witnessed The Cape, however extremely heroes happen to be tried round the little display through the years along with different types of achievement. Current attempts contain Smallville, which started off as a monster-of-the-week step-by-step that was not at all great, then evolved into a frequently pretty cool unique tale associated with Superman's formative years. Characters was a slow, big casted serial, that started with a lot of vapor, after which it tapered away. No Regular Family proceeded to go for that lighter strategy, mixing loved ones crisis while using powers, sort of like a Fantastic 4. We now have NBC's The Cape, which feels as though a contemporary Wonder film, along with facets of Captain christopher Nolan's A super hero movies. In a nutshell, if the show maintain what it demonstrated within the initial few hrs last night, we will lastly possess a movie-quality leading man round the little show, together with movie-quality activities every week.
Although there has been two attacks transmit with each other yesterday, with one beginning credit series, these were individual tales. The very first hr, "Pilot", felt as an source film, rushed in addition to gutted to suit into One hour. The second, "Tarot", might have developed a great follow-up, even though family things, along with the arc along with Beef Portman (Rich Schiff, Free airline Wing) might effortlessly have padded the center of the initial. Once the 2 hours didn't consist of 3 person bad guys, different modifying would have shipped one strong film. Indeed, superhero films have done three criminals in one film prior to, however rarely completely. All of us kind of desire this method have been utilized, because that would are creating an item better than what aired. But precisely what made this on the watch's screen used to be excellent.
