Some users are inadvertently posting duplicate posts. This appears to be caused by a lack of a timely response from the server, so the user is submitting the post again. These duplicate posts cause some difficulties for moderation. For example, if users are responding to the duplicate posts, it makes it harder to delete the post because the correct one needs to be deleted.

It would be helpful if users could observe a few simple rules to make everyone's life a little easier:
  • If you don't get a response from the server straight away when making a post, be aware of the possibility that your post was added to the forum but the server did not send the new updated page back to you with your post in it.
  • Whenever the possibility exists of a duplicate post, check to see if your post is a duplicate.
  • If you have posted a duplicate post, leave the first post alone and edit all later duplicate posts (there may be more than one), deleting all text and replacing it with something like "double post" so that its nature is obvious.
  • If you are replying to a post that is a duplicate, reply to the first post and not the later editions. The later versions will be deleted and replying to the wrong post will result in broken links.
  • If you post a message and it appears not to have been recorded by the server, do not modify your message before posting again. These modifications may be lost when the post is deleted. If you want to add to your post, do so before posting for the first time, not after.
