We are often extolled the virtues of Peer Review but it seems that there are sometimes upsets in the process or even after it is seemingly complete.
I was just delving a bit into one of my favourite subjects whe
n I found this:

There have been a number of astonishing failures of peer review in Elsevier journals. In addition to Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, here are five other cases (in four different journals):

E. Oxenhielm, On the second part of Hilbert’s 16th problem, accepted and made available online by Nonlinear Analysis in 2003 before the acceptance was withdrawn after publicity, http://sharing.mine....ert_s_16th.pdf. [See http://news.bbc.co.u...ure/3243736.stm for news coverage, and http://tesugen.com/a...xenhielms-paper for a refutation of the paper’s ridiculous claims of a proof.(continues)]

Peer Maths

There have been/are other notable Peer Review stuff ups as well.

And its still the best method we have of determining objective truth.

Unless you have a better suggestion?

Nature has given everyone including all of you on this forum a gift to determine an issue. It is called intelligence. However not many use it to it's best advantage. The best way to use it is to "think outside the box" which many of you unfortunately fail to do

The case of Michael A. Bellesiles and his book:
Posted Image

is a good case in point.
The author was a liar, a trickster and a con-man, even though his credentials were impeccable and the peer reviews of his work were done by men of equally impeccable academic standing.

The anti-gun brigade were overjoyed and loud in their praise, the only dissenting voices came from the gun owners with Charlton Heston at their head, as the then-President of the NRA. Bellesille is reputed to have told Heston to get a PhD before he dared to criticize a scholarly work.

Bellesiles even won the prestigious Bancroft Prize for his book.

Alas for peer review he was stripped of his prize, the first ever to achieve this non-distinction and everything went downhill from there.

Read more of this fascinating story here:BelleBull

References to this work of a scholar (although not a scholarly work) even turn up in books by respected historians in Australia, which goes to shew that not all academics are all that thorough in their research, because to find Bellesiles believable needed a vacuum in one's historical knowledge.

So, what is your solution?

Whats your genius plan now that you have fully and completely debunked peer review?

Whats your immediate solution to the problem of ignorant assholes running around spouting bullshit? Whats the best way to call them on their lies?

It helps to look at the qualifications of the persons doing the reviews and their political/other affiliations.
