Lately we have been plagued with spammers seeking to promote their dubious wares. To deal with them effectively, please use the reporting system to bring a post to a moderator's attention. Don't assume that posting in the spammers' threads is an effective method of bringing a moderator's attention to the issue - it isn't.

Sometimes too posts need to be raised for moderator action for other reasons. Sometimes a poster breaches the forum rules, posts other objectionable material, or may double post.

All of these can be dealt with using the Reporting system.

Each post has a "Report" button at the bottom of each post in the bottom left corner. To report a post:
  • Press the Report button.
  • Enter your reasons for the report in the form.
  • Press the Submit button.

And that's all you have to do. A moderator can then deal with it.

It's OK to report a post on suspicion. If it looks like spam, it probably is. If it may be objectionable, it's OK to report it even if you are not sure. Let a moderator make the decision.

The reporting form has the text "This form is to be used ONLY for reporting objectionable content and is not to be used as a method of communicating with moderators for other reasons." However, moderators will not mind if the reporting form is also used to report a double posting. The form brings a post to the attention of the moderators for moderator action. Deleting a double post falls under the jurisdiction of the moderators so it's OK to use it for this purpose.

However, the reporting mechanism is not to be used for general communication with moderators.
